Route Overview
This one-day route covers three of Tokyo's most anime-rich districts. You'll visit locations from Your Name, Jujutsu Kaisen, Steins;Gate, Love Live!, and more. Total walking: ~12,000 steps. Budget: ¥3,000–5,000 (transportation + meals).
Morning: Shinjuku (9:00–12:00)
9:00 — Shinjuku Station South Exit
Start at the south exit pedestrian overpass, featured in Your Name. The Docomo Tower is visible as a landmark. Walk south toward Yotsuya-Sanchome.
9:30 — Suga Shrine
The famous staircase from Your Name's climax. Arrive early to avoid crowds for photos. The shrine itself is small but worth a quick visit.
10:30 — Shinjuku Gyoen
The setting of Makoto Shinkai's Garden of Words. Entry is ¥500. The gazebo where Takao meets Yukino is in the Japanese garden section.
Afternoon: Shibuya (12:30–15:30)
12:30 — Shibuya Scramble Crossing
Featured in countless anime, most recently in Jujutsu Kaisen's Shibuya Incident arc. Get the classic overhead photo from the Shibuya Sky observation deck or the Starbucks at QFRONT.
14:00 — Shibuya 109 Area
The fashion hub that appears in Oshi no Ko and many other modern anime. Walk through Center-gai and explore the back streets.
Evening: Akihabara (16:00–19:00)
16:00 — Akihabara Electric Town
The spiritual home of otaku culture. Visit the Radio Kaikan building (Steins;Gate), browse anime merchandise at Animate and Mandarake, and check the Gamers building (Love Live!).
17:30 — UDX Building Area
The area around Akihabara UDX features in many anime. In the evening, the neon signs create that signature Akihabara atmosphere.
Practical Tips
- Get a 24-hour Tokyo Metro pass (¥600) — it covers most of this route
- Wear comfortable walking shoes
- Keep your phone charged — you'll be taking a lot of photos
- Weekdays are less crowded than weekends at all locations
